panoramic view from the porch looks to the West ArmWilderness. The pasture
rests on an alluvial fan, the land built by millenia of creeks outflowing
into Kootenay Lake ("Coot-knee").
A thunderstorm has just passed through, and late afternoon sun casts shadows
of clouds and cottonwood trees. The driveway turns under a rainbow arc,
while in the far distance snow glistens on a chisled peak called the Sphinx.
